Point of Influence

All things have roles in this world beyond the “top-level” roles that you would assume. By “top-level” I mean, for example, John’s role in life was to become famous or the bird flew in the engine and caused the plane to crash. These would imply a singular purpose for all things, which is not the case. All things in the physical, metaphysical and spiritual worlds have infinite purpose. In other words, it is the destiny of all things to perpetuate the Newton's third law: law of reciprocal actions. For every action force there is an equal, but opposite, reaction force(s): a symbiotic relationship. So, before you conclude that your life is useless, consider the right you made instead of left and how many events that set in motion. You know how it works. Every breath you take, every thought you have has been influenced and will influence to an infinite degree. Now that that’s been said, let us proceed.

The hidden significance of who, what, where, when, why and how is that the answer is the point when a set number of influences culminate and manifest into reality. What is that called? Does it even have a name? Did I discover something new?! HA!! I claim it! I shall call this enigma a “Point of Influence” or “POI” for short. Hmmm, it needs a symbol. I suppose POI could be visually defined as two or more existences intersecting. It reminds me of the cross. Could one line represent the existence of man and the line represent God? At the intersection of these lines is Jesus Christ, the culmination of God and man. I also noticed the symbol for infinity is has an embedded representation of POI. Does that mean that infinity is dependant on influence? Or perhaps that influence itself is infinite? Going back to the cross, could that be interpreted as influence being a divine action? If you think about it there are many symbols and objects that have POI embedded within. Does a plus sign mean that growth is a process of influence? What about multiplication? What about a traffic intersection? Have you ever noticed the energy level there? As matter of fact, anywhere there is a high concentration of paths crossing there is a high level of energy. I have always interpreted this as every ones energy as a collective but if you look at it through the POI perspective, that energy could be the residual buildup from massive amount influential activity. Think about when you’re at a grocery store. You are constantly being influenced in high doses. The products, the people, the environment in general all cause you to act a certain way consciously or subconsciously.

When you experience POI, don’t you notice your own energy level rise? We, as objects in this reality must have some level of dependence of POI because only things that feed have a hunger to be fed.

So what’s the point of all this? Awareness. Your reading this is a POI I created so that you may gain a little more respect for existence. I’m not saying that you’re involved any self righteousness at the moment just that everyone should know that your life does not only serve you but everything around you.

Observation #1: Repetition x Influence (+/-) = Meaning of Life

Preface
Every time I put my head to pillow and close my eyes, my mind kicks into overdrive. Its starts off like many of you: thinking mundane thoughts, recapping the events of the day, planning for tomorrow. Then a theme emerges that my mind obsesses on relentlessly. It takes me an eternity to fall asleep… if I fall asleep at all.

Setup
I was contemplating the best way to introduce Flash to someone who was intimidated by the program and its WYSIWYG interface. I am partial to metaphorical teaching as it has proven to be the fastest method of relaying the foundations of concept. So, I came up with the engine of a car as my parable. The person I wanted to teach is quite skilled in auto mechanics and I felt it would be the best avenue of approach. A Flash movie is actually a collective of many smaller movies and images that are all strategically placed throughout. Similarly, an engine is essentially a collective of many smaller components and devices that are placed strategically throughout. The efficiency of both engines and Flash movies are reliant on 2 factors: organization and repetition. Their size and functionality are improved by repeating respective pieces throughout the design. How many times is the same type of bolt or screw used in an engine? How many times is a visual item repeated in a Flash animation? Then I started thinking about where else repetition could be applied. The quick answer is everywhere and everything in any form or function.

Progression
All of these things could not exist without repetition (I dare you to try to prove me wrong). However, as the list continued to expand, I noticed there was another factor that I had not considered. What CAUSES repetition? What makes it start and stop? What controls its frequency? The answer is “Cause” itself; in other words, Influence. If you want to go somewhere, you will make yourself walk to the destination. When you arrive, you make yourself stop. This is influence, positive or negative, it doesn’t matter. Influence is influence. So how does this represent the meaning of life?

When I’ve heard about someone discussing the meaning of life it is always some self-serving, phrase like “Just have Fun” or “Love”. The common human thought process offends me more often than not. The meaning of life is not a simple answer. Repetition can be defined as continuous; as in infinite. Yes, it can be influenced in the positive or negative but it doesn’t end. When this planet burns up into the sun, existence could, theoretically continue. The meaning of life will exist without us. Therefore searching for it is a pointless task because the meaning of life is existence itself. The question should be what is the influence of life?
